On Monday, November 2, 2015, Cory Forman of Cohen Forman Barone, LLP moderated over the American Immigration Lawyers Association (“AILA”) New York Chapter’s seminar on practical solutions and creative dialogues between the criminal and immigration bar. Cory is the chairperson of AILA’s New York Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) liaison committee, which works closely with the New York ICE Field Office, expressing concerns of AILA members, local business, and the immigrant community over immigration enforcement policy. The panel was comprised of a distinguished group of criminal and immigration lawyers, including David Cohen, who spoke on the representation of non citizens before the criminal and immigration courts. The panelists answered questions related to preventing and mitigating the severe and unique consequences non citizens face as the result of a criminal arrest. The vast majority of attendees were attorneys who sought input from the panel on practical solutions for their specific criminal and immigration clients.
