Associate Lauren Artese

Lauren Artese is an Associate at Cohen Forman Barone, LLP. She handles matrimonial, family and criminal matters. Prior to joining the firm Lauren defended corporate clients against personal injury and property damage claims.

Lauren brings to the firm’s cases the experience she gained as a former prosecutor and a partner at a small general practice. Lauren was an Assistant District Attorney at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office assigned to the Gang Bureau. While assigned to the Gang Bureau she tried several serious felonies, including, a homicide. She was also lead attorney on an investigation into the violence occurring in East New York between two rival gangs which resulted in the indictment of over 50 gang members for conspiracy to commit violent crimes and was the largest of its kind at that time.

After leaving the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, Lauren focused her practice on criminal defense, matrimonial and family law cases. She defended people facing conspiracy and drug charges, as well as violent felonies. Lauren also worked with clients facing child/spousal support, paternity, custody and visitation petitions in Family Court. She is well versed in matrimonial matters and is experienced in negotiating all types of settlement agreements, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements. Her litigation experience enables her to aggressively advocate for the firm’s clients in court when necessary. Lauren also understands that matrimonial and family court cases are an emotional time for our clients, and she approaches these matters with compassion and understanding.
